8-4 sounds a lot better than 7-5, doesn't it? The Michigan Wolverines lost five games this year by a total of 21 points, including a 32-28 loss to Nebraska in the Alamo Bowl tonight. Yet, they almost lost seven games by a total of 25 points. Good teams win most the close ones. That's why they're good teams.
Nebraska started its year by dodging Houston (Houston!) in order to face I-AA Maine (Maine!). So, maybe Nebraska's only a "legitimate" 7-4.
Either Michigan should have won, or Nebraska, with its play at the end of the year, is proving to be next year's favorite for the Big 12 North title.

That last play almost gave me a heart attack, though.

ReplyDeleteI'd say that both of those statements are accurate. Nebraska looked better than their record indicated, and Michigan should have won.
That was definitely the worst season of Michigan football I've ever seen (been a fan since '86).
Congrats to the Huskers.
