The MVP Chase is a point system, based on how many "MVP Points" a player has accumulated at the end of the season.
Players can earn one MVP point each week.
A quarterback must have a 100.0+ passer rating in a win or tie
A back or receiver must have 100+ yards from scrimmage in a win or tie.
Multiple players on the same team can earn an MVP point in the same game if they meet the standard.
With more stringent standards than last year, we have a narrower field in the MVP Chase. (See what's changed in the Week 1 report.) I know that Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts would tie Tua Tagovailoa for the lead if we operated by last year's standards. Probably more (I'd have to check, which I won't).
The changes from last week are that several players went from 1 MVP Point to 2, making it a crowded leaderboard. No player sitting at two had a good enough game to tie Tua. That's bound to change. Tua's in the concussion protocol this week, so we can expect him to share the top spot next week.
