Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
Thank you for your patience as the regularity of this newsletter really fell off over the past few months due to personal circumstances. My intention is to send Daily Miracles out daily. Your support will make that happen.
LESSON 134
Let me perceive forgiveness as it is. (ACIM, W-134)
Today’s lesson puts aside the idea that forgiveness is somehow at odds with justice and truth. It dismisses the concept that anyone “deserves” to be condemned at all.
Nothing untrue — nothing unreal — exists. When people “sin,” they are acting based on an illusion, not truth. As much as we sometimes want to think ill of them, they didn’t mean it. They thought this world we share is all-there-is. But this world was built on false assumptions. Sin doesn’t come from a place of rebellion, it comes from a place of error. It comes from a false assumption or premise.
If someone was raised to believe a falsehood, and then takes action based on the falsehood, are they at fault?
As we wouldn’t accuse ourselves of acting out of error, so we can’t blame others. The truth isn’t threatened by error, and forgiveness is the belief that only truth is real.
