Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
Let miracles replace all grievances. (ACIM, W-78)
This Course has been asking you to see "God's Son" in yourself, and is now asking you to see it in others, and especially with one you have had difficulties with. Who seems to be your worst enemy even if it's someone close to you.
Forgiveness is the miracle, and all it is in removing all your thoughts and feelings about the person to see them as they really are, the Son of God.
It is the grace that you would hope others extend to you. Imagine if everyone saw you and treated you as if you were the Son of God: they'd admire you, they'd enjoy seeing you, they would treat you generously.
That's how to view your enemies.
And, it seems to me, to be the Golden Rule.
While the Golden Rule, doing to others as you would have done unto you, is treated as a sound, pragmatic principle to maintain peace between neighbors and social harmony, it's not so impersonal. It really is a reflection of the principle of loving your neighbors, even your enemies.
Why? Because they are the Son of God, and the Son of God knows nothing but love.
