On January 21 I’m launching two newsletters: Daily Miracles and the Daily Bible Chapter. Yesterday I gave a sneak peak into the Daily Bible Chapter. Today I’ll do the same with Daily Miracles.
Daily Miracles is a newsletter about my observations while taking A Course in Miracles. The Course is divided into 365 lessons. Each day I’ll link back to the instructions and commentary provided by the course, and then add my own commentary.
In these previews, I don’t want to reveal the lessons. I think it’s best to take the lessons one at a time. But I’ll provide some quotes from my commentaries on the first few lessons.
From Day One
Lose a book, even a favorite book? That’s alright; you can get another copy. But to lose an autographed copy with a personalized note from the famous and beloved author? That might be a cause of deep disappointment and regret. That copy means something.
Or does it? Perhaps the meaning is in what you can’t see: the thoughtfulness and kindness of the author for having written a message just for you. So perhaps that book and other objects in the room that may seem to “mean something” don’t really mean anything in and of themselves.
From Day Two
If another person is in this room, they won’t feel the same level of gratitude I would for certain objects, and might not know why there are other things I want to replace. Each thing means something different to each person.
We are each creators of the thoughts we associate with what we see.
From Day Three
A cat may nap on a couch just as I do. The cat (probably) doesn’t have a name for it; because I call it “couch” I may think I understand it.
But I don’t know why we don’t just sit and lie on the floor, or on matressets. I scarcely know more than a cat does about the process in making a couch. I know even less about making the ceiling fan, television, or phone…
Does it matter what I think?
From Day Four
My thoughts about the major political parties and the government don’t mean anything.
Which means my thoughts are neither bad nor good, which in turn means there’s no reason to feel bad.
