Cindy Sheehan, Neo-Confederate?

I was wondering when someone was going to bring this up. Cindy Sheehan started writing for LewRockwell.com early this year. Not surprising, in that LRC is the most popular antiwar site on the Internet. Except that it is critical of all war, including the popular, politically correct ones, and the State itself. So it attracts columnists of many backgrounds, from the Christian Reconstructionist Gary North to the individualist feminist Wendy McElroy, author of XXX: A Woman's Right to Pornography.

But, of course, it isn't Sheehan's "common ground" with either theocrats or anarchists that's worth pointing out. No, it is that LRC has also run articles by southern nationalists. If Lott and Ashcroft get smeared for their "misadventures" with these folks, shouldn't Sheehan?

I hope Sheehan is proud of her association with LRC, and that she knew what it is about before she submitted her first article. But hysteria over Lincoln's War just won't go away. One must never question Lincoln's War. Defend the southern cause, or question the constitutionality and motives of the northern invasion, and you're a racist, pure and simple. Just as even raising a doubt as to the number of Jews killed in WWII makes you a "holocaust-denier" and anti-Semite. Discussion of some issues just can not be permitted.

Sometimes I wish that critics of America's historical treatment of the native Indians were smeared as anti-farmer, anti-progress, and anti-American. And that critics of Prohibition would be smeared as pro-Mafia and apologists for Al Capone. Why is it acceptable to (rightfully) regret our treatment of the Indians and Prohibition, but we can't say that Lincoln's War was at best unnecessary and not worth the cost?

Hi I am new to this site, I as an Independent/Centrist/Moderate with a radical egde. Although no fan of Bush's Iraq war but I am going to expose Cindy Sheehan links to the Neo-Confederaes at the Southern Proverty Law center, ADL and to the AOL Boards. Although I grive the lost of her son and her right to protest but now she lost my support for her rally behind Neo-Confederates to welcoming Neo-Nazis at "Camp Casey"Pro- Jhaids and Pro-Milosevic via the back door of Ramsey Clark and IAC/ANSWER.
