Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
Lesson 150
My mind holds only what I think with God.
(139) I will accept Atonement for myself.
(140) Only salvation can be said to cure.
We persist in two illusions:
We are separate from God.
We are inclined to do bad things.
We then think we are vulnerable to the things of the world. "The rain falls on the just as well as the unjust." When it rains, we'll catch a cold even if we are just.
On top of that, we're led to believe our desires are sinful, and our sensuous behaviors cause disease. So we actually deserve to get sick.
The ideas of atonement and salvation are related. We are "at one" with God, so God "atones" for us, that is, corrects our illusory thinking about sickness. God then "saves" us from our self-imposed feelings of guilt.
The only healing we need is to be reminded that we are and always will be whole because we are one with God.
