2022 AL and NL MVP Chases

The MVP ballots for the National and American Leagues contain ten names ranked in order of preference.

Here are my ballots for both leagues if the 2022 season ended today (games up through September 22).

To be considered for my ballot, a player must be in the top 40 in all of Major League Baseball in OPS (On-base plus Slugging). They also have to play for a team with a win-loss record over .500.

Then I consider the number of games a player played in which his team won, and his OPS in those games.

I’ll do a final ballot at the end of the regular season.

American League

  1. Aaron Judge, Yankees
  2. Yordan Alvarez, Astros
  3. Jose Altuve, Astros
  4. Alex Bregman, Astros
  5. Jose Ramirez, Guardians
  6. Kyle Tucker, Astros
  7. Bo Bichette, Blue Jays
  8. Andres Gimenez, Guardians
  9. Vladmire Guerrerro Jr., Blue Jays
  10. Julio Rodriguez, Mariners

National League

  1. Freddie Freeman, Dodgers
  2. Pete Alonso, Mets
  3. Paul Goldschmidt, Cardinals
  4. Mookie Betts, Dodgers
  5. Austin Riley, Braves
  6. Trea Turner, Dodgers
  7. Nolan Aranado, Cardinals
  8. Will Smith, Dodgers
  9. Manny Machado, Padres
  10. Jeff McNeil, Mets
