What if this life is just another dream?

 Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

LESSON 99

Salvation is my only function here. (ACIM, W-99)

Yesterday I encountered this Tweet (I'm writing this a couple of weeks ahead of publication, hence the old time stamp);

"Shamans and dreamers discovered that when you enter another world, your memory of the world you just left rapidly fades. This is why we have difficulty remembering our dreams. It's also why we have dreams in which we have no knowledge of this world or our loved ones." - Angela Robey

We really don't know how many worlds we inhabit in our sleeping state, and we don't know if the world in which you're reading is just another dream.

The idea of multiple realities/multiple universes/multiple dream states may very well explain why there is no reason to be afraid. I will still be here, I will still be "I," even after this dream is over, even after (or apart from) death.

Because there is no reason to be afraid, we have every reason to forgive. "Salvation and forgiveness are the same." (ACIM, W-99.1:1No harm can be done to us because this is a dream.

What, then, is the meaning of this dream, if any? You may have heard the analogy of the caterpillar and butterfly so often that it becomes tiresome. But I wonder if forgiveness really is that transition from a life confined to a life unlimited.

Salvation is the realization and guarantee that this will be a good dream.
