Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
Today's review lessons:
(69) My grievances hide the light of the world in me. (ACIM, W-85.1:1)
(70) My salvation comes from me. (ACIM, W-85.3:1)
"²My grievances show me what is not there, and hide from me what I would see. ³Recognizing this, what do I want my grievances for? (ACIM, W-85.1:2-3)"
I immediately thought of two ways that grievances hide the light of the world from me:
I might jump to conclusions about a person or situation by assuming the worst.
I am disappointed after I had high hopes and expectations from other people.
It's good to remember that everyone is living out their own experience in this maze. Others may not know of their connection to Source. While we may reach out and show acts of compassion to those who are suffering, we have no need to go into the darkness with them, to share their grievances. We can, indeed, be the very light that they need.
There is no situation where we can be saved "if only" somebody else did something for us, or "if only" social, economic, or political conditions were better. It was always our choice to be unhappy, to feel bad, and it is our choice to feel good.
