Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
My holiness blesses the world. (ACIM, W-37)
Today's lesson says that "There is no other way in which the idea of sacrifice can be removed from the world’s thinking… Those who see themselves as whole make no demands."
I've heard from Mary Morrissey and other spiritual teachers that we're always sacrificing something, it's just a matter of what. We could be sacrificing something of a "low" vibration for something higher, the lesser for the greater. In Working With the Law, Raymond Holliwell said you can sacrifice your bad temper for friendship, or your friendship for your bad temper.
In other words, "sacrifice" doesn't mean you have to deprive yourself of anything. In one sense, this Course does seem to ask you to sacrifice. To gain "holy vision," you must sacrifice your illusions.
Which is no sacrifice at all.
