Holiness is peace

Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

My holiness envelops everything I see. (ACIM, W-36)

I found this comprehensible when I borrowed from Lesson 34, "I could see peace instead of this, (ACIM, W-34), except I would just say "I see peace."

In other words, I'm equating peace with holiness. Because I am holy, I see only peace. Because I see only peace, my holiness envelops only peace.

And again I applied it to news items, aches, pains, uncomfortable situations. An example was when getting a fountain drink at a convenience store. The kind I wanted was out. In the past I would just get something else. This time, I went up to the store clerk to let them know so that they could install the flavor I desired. In the past, I was often uncomfortable asking because I didn't want to create more work for them. But settling for something else that I didn't want wasn't peace or holiness, or even meekness or passivity, or even being "nice" to the clerk, it was dissatisfaction. Especially when knowing that the clerk would have to replace it sooner or later anyway.

At the time I wasn't consciously thinking that my holiness enveloped the store clerk or soda fountain, but these lessons are being consciously embedded.
