Commentary on A Course in Miracles: Lesson 15

Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

My thoughts are images that I have made. (ACIM, W-15)

Head exploding:

1. It is because the thoughts you think you think appear as images that you do not recognize them as nothing. ²You think you think them, and so you think you see them. ³This is how your “seeing” was made. ⁴This is the function you have given your body’s eyes. ⁵It is not seeing. ⁶It is image making. ⁷It takes the place of seeing, replacing vision with illusions. (ACIM, W-15.1:1-7)

I've heard and read from others, and in materials related to this Course, that life itself is an illusion. I've also had dreams where I began to suspect I was in a dream, but was convinced I could not be because it all seemed too real.

Obviously, what I see in dreams is "image making." Presumably. I am the one making the images. Perhaps it's possible that someone else plants images in my dreams, or that an outside force is behind the "image-making" in my waking state.

But, for the purpose of the Course, I'll play along and say that "I" have made the images I see.
