Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
I do not understand anything I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place]. (ACIM, W-3)
I think we may be close to dogs, cats, or other pets in this regard. A cat may nap on a couch just as I do. The cat (probably) doesn't have a name for it; because I call it "couch" I may think I understand it.
But I don't know why we don't just sit and lie on the floor, or on mattresses. I scarcely know more than a cat does about the process of making a couch. I know even less about making the ceiling fan, television, or phone. I don't even really know how mirrors came to be. I don't know why some things are the shape they are.
Neither do cats. I doubt they think about it or worry about their ignorance.
These things just are, regardless of what I think about them, or think I know about them.
Does it matter what I think?
