Shooting the sheriff but not the deputy.
My latest at Medium. Who need evidence?
Bob Marley’s “I Shot the the Sheriff” is about a confession followed by a denial “I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy.”
Although the song provides a story about a morally innocent man, that particular line pops into my head often in today’s political/media environment. One who’s guilty of A must also be guilty of B; “If he shot the sheriff, he must have also shot the deputy! It’s logical that he did, so why do you need evidence?”
2-minute read.
