Imagine if we instead engaged in a limited invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, targeting only Al Qaeda and NOT the Taliban? What if we never invaded Iraq? That would have knocked off at least a trillion from the national debt right there. And a trillion dollars spent on defense contractors to spend on bombs, Humvees, and bullets could have been invested instead in goods and services consumers actually want and need.
