The problem is, every government action causes a reaction the government can't control. Government invades and occupies another country, and gets terrorism and guerrilla warfare in return. Government prohibits certain drugs, and then sees untaxed black markets, higher crime, and the largest prison population in the world. Government builds six-lane expressways, and ends up with urban decay, pollution, and traffic congestion. Government gives out student loans, and universities hike their tuition. When government "helps" one, another suffers. It is true that in many ways our health and wealth are at the mercy of environmental and market forces we can not control. But government can't control them either.
