It is expected that Sam Brownback will drop out of the Republican Presidential race today. Mike Tennant at LRC writes, "The good news is that it frees up more time for Ron Paul in future debates. The bad news is that it helps concentrate the pro-war vote."
I think the advantage of more coverage outweighs the disadvantage of the latter. Frankly, the sooner the field narrows to two candidates, the better it is for Paul. His platform is the most populist (get out of NAFTA, secure borders), the most conservative (federalism, America First foreign policy), the most libertarian (free markets,anti-Drug War) AND the most liberal (peace, civil liberties, anti-censorship) - which goes to show the similarities of liberalism and libertarianism) of any candidate in either party. To support Paul is to express no confidence in either of the Democratic and Republican Parties as we know them today. The fewer number of candidates, the bigger opportunity he has to get his message out.
