One Year Later

I wrote this in an e-mail a year ago, when there was ridiculous buzz that Saddam's capture would hurt the Democrats:

The Democrats have nothing to fear from the Hussein capture, or any other real or imagined "success" in this ongoing war. I never suspected that those resisting foreign occupation were "Saddam loyalists" or "insurgents". The war will continue. Those who are fighting Americans soldiers aren't fighting to have Saddam back, but only to have us *out*. It will probably demoralize our troops further when the war continues despite Saddam's capture. I hope I'm wrong and that the war comes to an end. I just have no reason to think it will.
