the goose steppers finally lose one

Congrats to Sen. Russ Feingold, D-WI, for leading the filibuster opposed to making the PATRIOT Act permanent.

Now here's the problem. If terroists strike while the PATRIOT Act is enforced, then the Republicans would blame the terrorists. But if the terrorists strike after the PATRIOT Act expires, the Republicans would blame the Democrats.

The way to "defeat" terrorism in the USA is to pull out of the Middle East, and declare neutrality in all its conflicts. Our government is well aware of this, and measures like the PATRIOT Act and the War in Iraq have nothing to do with protecting Americans, and everything to do with acquiring more power. After all, what would government do if it wasn't manufacturing conflict and fear?
