DC slips further into irrelevency

Mike Tuggle on New England rebellions on No Child Left Behind and Kyoto:

Let's face the facts here: a distinct section of the empire is pursuing its own foreign and environmental policies in the face of the central government. This is as big as local opposition to the USA PATRIOT Act, which has coalesced primarily in New England and the West (Left?) coast.

From the divisive issues of homosexual marriage to gun rights, the fissure lines are growing between the so-called Red and Blue States. The age of empires has died. The age of the city-state has arrived.
