The NFL Standings

The outcome of tonight's Philly-Dallas game won't make a difference to this observation.

It goes without saying that the cumulative winning record of NFL teams would be .500. After nine weeks, exactly half the teams are over and half the teams are under. And in each conference, exactly half the teams are over and half under. Most amazingly, in each of the eight divisions there are two winning teams and two losing teams.

That's quite unusual, and very unlikely. Usually, there is a strong division in which teams collect wins against non-division opponents, and then a weak division where the teams tend to lose to non-division opponents.

There is overall as close to division parity as I've seen in the NFL.
