A Jim Rome Clone Take on Lauren Bacall

This link is almost too funny to read. Lauren Bacall says that Nicole Kidman isn't a screen legend: "She's not a legend," Bacall said, cutting off interviewer Jenni Falconer in mid-sentence.
"She's a beginner. What is this 'legend'? She can't be a legend at whatever age she is. She can't be a legend, you have to be older."

Apparently, in Bacall's world, being married to Humphrey Bogart, co-starring in his movies, and being washed up upon his death makes you a screen legend, but starring on your own with a bunch of different co-stars over several years makes you a "beginner." Independent Country totally agrees, and to some degree, so do its e-mailers:

Dear Independent Country,

Nicholas Cage is a no-talent.

Sincereley,

Tony Curtis and Rock Hudson

Dear I.C.

I would agree with Lauren Bacall about Nicole Kidman being a "beginner," but on the other hand Ms. Bacall's movie career, and my entire life, in comparison to Ms. Kidman's, pretty much disproves the point.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Monroe

Dear I.C.,

Lauren Bacall is right. Someone like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, or Sean Penn just don't know what it's like to make a good movie.

Sincerely,

Frankie Avalon and Fabian

Dear I.C.

We admire Lauren Bacall's creditibility, because it's not like she made her career based on who she married.

Sincerely,

Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor.
