October 7, 2016: 15 years of losing the War on Terror

It's Ain't Archer

Watched 2 eps of Better Things. No way that should be TV-MA. Middle schoolers on up can watch. They've heard F-Bombs.

Silencing the demagogues

To those who think price-gouging during #HurricaneMatthew is wrong, I wrote this 11 years ago.

The law is the law!

I heard on a local sports talk radio show a guest was going to appear on the "Click It or Ticket Hotline."

I thought, really? My taxes are going to buy sponsorship of segments like this when most people fasten their seatbelts anyway? But I also thought: the State is telling us that the worst thing about not fastening your seatbelt is that cops will give you a ticket.

It's not even "seatbelts save lives." It's "seatbelts are the LAW. Comply!"

Whether or not you think there should be seatbelt laws, this ad campaign is offensive and authoritarian.

From last year, but I didn't see it until now

One of the most effective forms of satire is when the tables are turned...

October 7 in history (via Wikepdia)

1763 – King George III of the United Kingdom issues the Royal Proclamation of 1763, closing aboriginal lands in North America north and west of Alleghenies to white settlements.

The American aristocracy had other ideas. That's why there was a Revolutionary War.

1996 – The Fox News Channel begins broadcasting.

2001 – The Global War on Terrorism begins as a result of the September 11 attacks. The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan initiates with an air assault and covert operations on the ground.

Strategic defeat after strategic defeat abroad and a vast, illegal Surveillance State and Police State at home Terror wont he War on Terror

Birthday Quotes

"History, like beauty, depends largely on the beholder, so when you read that, for example, David Livingstone discovered the Victoria Falls, you might be forgiven for thinking that there was nobody around the Falls until Livingstone arrived on the scene."

"Forgiveness is an absolute necessity for continued human existence."

- Desmond Tutu (born October 71931)

Happy Birthday John Mellencamp!
