The Greatest Canadian Politician

As a follow-up to the previous post, you can't argue against the inventor of insulin as the greatest Canadian. But who wouldn't be surprised if a politician is going to win tonight's contest. All four, Macdonald, Douglas, Pearson, and Trudeau, believed in government force and the destruction of economic and personal freedom in order to bend Canadian society to their will.

Louis Riel believed in the preservation of land rights and the preservation of his people's linguistic (French) and religious (Roman Catholic) rights. He was not opposed the British Crown or the Canadian government, but he was for his people, the French-Indians called the Metis, and their just rights.
